Prime Minister Narendra Modi has identified Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a transformative force that will extend beyond the technology sector to create new opportunities for the agriculture industry. Speaking at the 'NaMo for Viksit Bharat' programme held at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, the Prime Minister urged the youth to prepare for these evolving technical requirements to help build a developed India by 2047.
AI in agriculture and future growth
During his address, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the coming generation must develop skills that can be continuously upgraded to meet changing global demands. He noted that the integration of AI in agriculture, alongside healthcare, manufacturing, and robotics, will be central to India's next phase of development. By converging education, skills, and industry, the Prime Minister aims to position India to leverage emerging technologies in traditional sectors like farming.
Infrastructure boost for Gujarat
The Prime Minister’s visit to Vadodara also marked a significant expansion in regional infrastructure, with the inauguration and foundation stone laying for projects valued at over ₹35,000 crore. These initiatives, which include improvements to railways and roads, are designed to strengthen connectivity and logistics across the region.
A major highlight of the visit was the completion of the 2,800-km Dedicated Freight Corridor. The Prime Minister described this project as a historic milestone for the country’s logistics transformation and a key component of the Gati Shakti initiative, which is expected to support the movement of goods and industrial growth.
Vadodara as a hub for innovation
The event highlighted Vadodara's evolution from a traditional industrial center to a hub for modern manufacturing. From its history in textiles and petrochemicals to its current role in the C-295 aircraft manufacturing programme, the city serves as a model for how traditional strengths can be combined with new-age technology to drive economic progress.
